Connect Bitwarden to collect evidence that your organization manages credentials through a password manager, satisfying credential hygiene controls.

What is Bitwarden?

Bitwarden is an open-source password manager used by individuals and teams to store credentials securely. Connecting Bitwarden to Imara provides evidence that your organization has adopted a managed credential solution — a control required by most security compliance frameworks.

What Imara collects from Bitwarden

  • Organization members and their active status
  • User roles and collection access levels
  • Organization security policy settings — 2FA requirements, master password policy

Required permissions

Imara connects via the Bitwarden Public API using an Organization API Key (Client ID + Client Secret). Find this in Bitwarden → Organization Settings → API Key. Imara does not read individual vault items — only organization-level metadata and security policies.

How to connect

  1. In Bitwarden, go to Organization Settings → API Key and copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
  2. In Imara, go to Integrations and select Bitwarden.
  3. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret, then click Connect.

Frameworks supported

SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF.

What to expect

Imara confirms password manager adoption and collects member enrollment data, providing auditable evidence of your organization's credential management practices.
