Slack
Connect Slack to monitor workspace security settings and user access for security awareness and compliance evidence.
What is Slack?
Slack is a messaging platform used for team communication. Connecting Slack to Imara allows monitoring of workspace security settings and user access — relevant for access control and security policy controls in several compliance frameworks.
What Imara collects from Slack
- Workspace members and their roles (Admin, Member, Guest)
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) status per user
- Guest account configurations
- Workspace security settings — session duration, file sharing, and retention policies
Required permissions
Imara connects via the Slack OAuth flow using a Workspace Admin account. The following Slack scopes are requested:
- users:read — read workspace member list and roles
- admin.users:read — read user 2FA and admin status
Note: The admin.users:read scope (which shows MFA status) is only available on Slack Business+ and Enterprise Grid plans.
How to connect
- In Imara, go to Integrations and select Slack.
- Click Connect. You will be redirected to Slack.
- Sign in with a Workspace Admin account and approve the requested permissions.
- You will be redirected back to Imara and the sync will begin.
Frameworks supported
SOC 2, ISO 27001.
What to expect
Imara collects evidence about Slack workspace security and maps it to access control and communication security controls. The most common finding is team members without 2FA enabled.
